A LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Courage. What does that mean? "A mental and moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty." That's just the dictionary definition, but I can assure you, I know what courage means to me, because over the last few years I have been surrounded by warriors, both inside and outside this office. They stood up for what was right, even when it was difficult, and with that, we formed some lasting friendships. In addition to my warriors at Petro Valve, I have been surrounded by warriors on the outside, by heroes in law enforcement. I became very close to them and learned a lot about what they do, their commitment to their jobs, and the brotherhood they form with each other. I was moved by that and grateful for everything they've done for me.
At the same time, the stars all aligned when I had a chance meeting with an old friend of 30 years. She founded an organization called K9s4COPS and later, K9s4KIDS. She was inspired by the story of Officer Dahlin, whose K9 was killed in the line of duty. She started this organization to help give K9s to agencies that couldn't otherwise afford them. And hearing this sparked something in me, that it was time for me to give back and to support these people who put their lives on the line for us every day. Meet Petro Valve's newest family members, Boo and Scout.
These two dogs were chosen by their officers and donated by Petro Valve. These dogs will be ours for their entire lives, throughout their careers and after their retirement. At the end of the day, they go home with their officers and live with them as part of their family. Boo is a Belgian Malinois, and he works for the Conroe Police Department. Scout was donated for K9s4KIDS, and she works in the Cy-Fair school district with the officers that serve there. She is half Belgian Malinois and half German Shepherd. Both dogs are dual-purpose trained dogs, meaning they don't just sniff out drugs and contraband, but they are also trained to then take down the perpetrator. We chose their names based on characters in To Kill a Mockingbird, because they are forces for good. They triumph good over evil, and they care about their communities.
I am thrilled for Petro Valve to be a part of this organization, and I'm excited to see all the good Boo and Scout will do in the world.
